Songs for November 2012

Opps been awhile since I have done this one. Lately there seems to be a real variety of great songs in the charts. I wont put Gunganm Style here because who isn't listening to that song at the moment??

Wings by Little Mix
Oooo I just love this song. UK band formed during UK Xfactor (and I believe the first band to win?). Boppy little tune that is fun to listen to. Reminds me a bit of marching music crossed with perhaps swing music?

Man Like That by Gin Wigmore
This NZ singer is pretty awesome. This song has a fantastic beat to it not sure if she is supposed to be going for a 60's style or 20's swing style but I like whatever style it is. I also like Black Sheep which is from the same album.

Good time by Owl City and Carly Rae Jepsen
A nice summer dance song.

Battle Scars by Guy Sebastian and Lupe
This current album of Guy Sabastians I think is his best. I am not finding him nearly so "commercial" this time round. Have no idea who Lupe is, apparently he is a big deal in the USA. A good ballad song.

We are never ever getting back together - Taylor Swift
Even though I like this song and think it is a good attitude type song, I think she seriously she needs to lighten up. Does she only write songs about her break ups??

Try by Pink
Ah Pink is awesome and writes great, catchy, meaningful songs. I am bummed I wont see her in concert next year when she is in Oz.

Fun by Amy Merideth
Has to be one of the stupidest band names ever (for a band of guys) but they write some interesting songs. This is their latests (I believe) which is a great boppy tune.

Anything Could Happen by Ellie Goulding
This is the song from the coke add (here in Oz not sure about anywhere else). A bit of a weird song but I like it for some reason. Sort of whimsical and dancy.

Songs for June and July 2012

Sorry I missed a month but has been a really busy couple of months.

Karmin - Brokenhearted
Such a fun song I love hearing this in the car driving to work in the morning as it is such a perky song.

No Doubt - Settle Down
Hooray No Doubt are back and with another awesome song. *Sigh* these guys can do no wrong. This has a fun almost Jamaican type beat to it.

Katy Perry - Wide Awake
Katy is another artist who would really have to screw it up for me to hate her song. As always Katy does a cool and interesting music clip.

Fun - Some Nights
Ok I dont like the film clip because when I hear this song I think of Africa for some reason, but hey whatever. The song is awesome.

Ricki Lee - Do It Like That
A fun summary dance song where I swear Ricki Lee channels her inner Beyonce. This is an Aussie artist so might not play for over seas people.

Coldplay feat Rhianna - Princess of China
Coldplay, do I really need to say more? But this is a pretty cool clip as well as an interesting tune, the mix in of Asian influences is done really well.

Rita Ora - How We Do (party)
Another fun party ditty perfect for sitting around with friends :) This is not a "clean" version as I didn't even realise the version on the radio I had been listening to was edited. The swearing is not to bad or over the top but she does say bulls*&t a few times very clearly, so if you have littlies around and you dont want them to hear it maybe get them to leave the room.

Cheryl - Say My Name
Here is the techno song you knew had to be here somewhere lol

Far East Movement feat Justin Bieber - Live My Life
For some reason the music clip also features Redfoo and this is the version I like the best. I am not keen on the version with just Justine Bieber. I do not know why artists feel the need to do this as invariably I like the non easily available version.

Songs for May 2012

As it was Eurovision this month I decided to go with a Eurovision theme and put some videos of my favourite winners/contestants.

Buck Fizz - Making my mind up (1981)
How can you not smile when listening to this fun little ditty

Gina G - Oh Ah Just A Little Bit (1996)
This song is what introduced me to watching Eurovision. The singer was Aussie and got in via UK but as a result was a big deal here in Oz.

ABBA - Waterloo (1974) winner
Probably the most famous Eurovision song ever.

Ruslana - Wild Dances (2004) winner
A fun tribal type song from Russia. Not sure what she is saying for most of it but it doesn't matter I just like the beat.

Lena - Satellite (2010) winner
I love this catchy song. It is on Xbox's dance game (whose name escapes me at the moment)

Ertab Erener - Every way that I can (2003) winner
A mix of middle eastern music and modern dance music.

Songs For March 2012

Bit of a mix of music types here today. Hope you enjoy.

The Piano Guys - Paradise (Peponi) African Style
This is a rework of Coldplay's Paradise and it sounds awesome. It is a mix of classical music and ,in this case anyway, traditional African music. These guys have other song they have covered and nearly all sound awesome (only one didn't work for me). Definitely take the time to listen.

Carly Rae Jepsen - Call Me Maybe
Just loving this song at the moment. I dare you not to like it. I believe it has been out over in Canada (maybe USA?) for awhile but it has only just come out here.

Skrillex - Bangarang
Awesome techno song with heaps of bass. If thats not your thing stay away :)
