Technical Difficulties - We has them!

I like this little guy so much I brought him back for more :) He is just so darn cute!
Ok in all seriousness it has been brought to my attention that a fellow blogger was having issues leaving comments on my blog. They keep getting an error message every time they try to post a comment.
Has anyone else been experiencing the same or similar issue?
Also has anyone else experienced a similar issue with their blog and could kindly give me pointers on how to fix it?
Thanks in advance to everyone!

Whats on Your Desk Wednesday? Meme
What's on your desk Wednesday? is a weekly bookish meme hosted by Sassy Brit of Alternative-Read.com.There is the Bourne Ultimatum and numerous books by James Rollins. Only my current read tends to end up on this desk.
Next time I will have to take a picture of Mt TBR which resides on a bookshelf and the dining table (because that's what dining tables are for aren't they?).

ON MOVIES ~ Waterworld...
MONDAY MOVIE MEME
This week's movie topic is all about Water..
This weeks theme is all about movies filmed in and around the sea, lakes, rivers and streams
Waterworld - Has to be included being the biggest most expensive water movie that flopped spectacularly. This movie is just so bad you have to watch it.
Deep Blue Sea - Samuel L Jackson is all really need to know about this movie. It is silly, improbable and a plot line so full of holes it resembles swiss cheese. But strangely I liked this film! I avoided the obvious shark movie Jaws, I figured a lot of other people will pick that.
Pirates of the Carribean - If this doesnt make just about everyones list I will be REALLY surprised.
Finding Nemo - What isnt there to love about this movie. Not to mention you cant help but quote the damn thing for hours after!
Sphere - Creepy alien artifact at the bottom of the sea. Also Samuel L Jackson is in this (it is a coincidence that I have selected to Samuel L Jackson films, I promise! though he is a fantastic actor).
Piranha - A horror movie about flesh eating fish. I never really watched this movie. I saw one scene of a woman on a lie-low (is that how it is spelt?) thing getting eaten and I decided then and there this was not the movie for me.

The Narrative Causality Is Experiencing Technical Difficulties

Teaser Tuesday 07 July 09
Teaser Tuesdays hosted by Should be Reading and is a book meme that asks you to grab a random teaser quote from the book you are currently reading. Posting spoilers are a no no but anything else is fair game.

ON MOVIES ~ Say What?...

MONDAY MOVIE MEME
This week's movie topic is all about Subtitles..
Carleen @ Life, Liberty & Good Coffee recently suggested the topic of subtitles. So this weeks theme is what foreign films have you enjoyed? I personally do not have a problem with subtitles as I used to watch a lot of original Japanese Animation (dont get to see so much any more, not enough time). It is a real skill though to read quickly then watch the scene unfold. These days I dont watch a lot of subtitled movies, in fact I think the last one (new) I saw was Crouching Tiger.Armour of God - Hong Kong/Chinese movie about an Indiana Jones style character. Action, Comedy and Awesome stunts. This is a Jacki Chan movie and personally I prefer his non English stuff. The action sequences are really why you watch his non English films. No insurance companies saying "dont do it" here. In fact while filming Armour of God Jacki almost died and had to have a hole drilled into his head (which is a permanent hole filled with a plastic plug). The scene is played at the end of the movie.
Das Boot - German movie about a U-Boat in WWII. This movie is about the life of a submariner. Even though it is told from the German perspective there is no right or wrong, its just survival and do your job. This was also one of Wolfgang Petersons earliest work before he made it big in Hollywood.
Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon - Chinese movie set in the ancient China. A love story and an action story. It has some major Asian stars in it like Michelle Yeoh and Chow Yun-Fat. The imagery is just amazing. Visually it is a beautiful film (and the actors arent to shabby either).
Monday's At The Movies - Hotel for Dogs & Nancy Drew
We ended up having a family movie weekend watching dvds.Hotel f
or DogsStarring: Emma Roberts, Lisa Kudrow, Don Cheadle, Jake T. Austin
Director: Thor Freudenthal
Genre: Comedy, Family
Year: 2009
Summary from Netflix
Placed in a foster home that doesn't allow pets, 16-year-old Andi (Emma Roberts) and her younger brother, Bruce (Jake T. Austin), turn an abandoned hotel into a home for their dog. Soon other strays arrive, and the hotel becomes a haven for every orphaned canine in town. But they have to do some quick thinking to keep the cops off their tails. Based on a novel by Lois Duncan.
This was delightful fun family movie. It opens with a little terrier type dog walking the streets in search of food. I mention this sequence as it is told from the point of view of the dog, which was a fun way to introduce the movie. Food is what eventually lands Friday into trouble with the law and he is taken to the pound. Andi and Bruce realise that looking after Friday is going to be much more difficult in an inner city apartment building then previously. They discover the abandoned hotel that is occupied with two other dogs and the siblings decide to look after the dogs there.
There is something here for young and old. The inventions that Bruce creates are fantastic and ingenous. Most provide a big chunk of the comedy as you watch the dogs interact with the inventions. The dogs naturally steal the show with Georgia in particular being our comdey favorite.
Emma Roberts has the potential to be a really interesting actress and I'll be interested to see which way her career goes.

Nancy D
rewStarring: Emma Roberts, Rachael Leigh Cook, Tate Donovan
Director: Andrew Fleming
Genre: Children & Family
Year: 2007
Summary from Netflix
Intrepid teen private eye Nancy Drew (Emma Roberts) investigates a Tinseltown murder in this mystery based on Carolyn Keene's popular book series. Nancy heads to Los Angeles with her father (Tate Donovan), where she uncovers new clues to the unsolved murder of a movie star. Can the small-town girl cut through the Hollywood hype to solve the case?
I have never read the Nancy Drew books so can not compare with the beloved book series. However for what I could see they seemed to keep the character Nancy close to the book. How can I say that? well when Nancy was going through her slueth kit she says she has a fountain pen. How many modern kids would even know what a fountain pen is let alone have one. Also Nancy has tinned home made cakes to give everyone, again even if a modern child thought to carry around food to give people I am sure it would be a pre-packed store bought something. The director tied this old world view and values Nancy has in that she just really likes old things.
Anyway on to the story Nancy and her father movie in the old abandonded house of a 70's movie star who had died mysteriously. Nancy though has vowed not to do any more sluething while they are in L.A. However soon Nancy is discovering clues (as her father exclaims "mysteries just find you") that point to solving the mysterious death of the actress.
This was cute fun movie that the whole family can enjoy. You will recognise a lot of the supporting adult cast faces (Bruce Willis is even in there) and they all turn in pretty good efforts acting wise. I was suprised by this film and really enjoyed it. There is a sequel slated that, if the same actors are in it, I will give a chance.

Friday Fill-Ins: 03 July 2009

And...here we go!
1. When I heard someone singing in the street again, I heard New York, New York. (can anyone remember the song that the lyrics came from. The lyrics are the green bits which I fit to the Fill In).
2. Laughter is the best medicine.
3. It's late, but there is always time to make sure there is a treat in your pocket to make sure any encounter with a griffin goes well. Always leave the house prepared!
4. If your pets are conspicuously absent when you come home its is not a good sign, this is guaranteed always.
5. My eyes have seen things that can not be unseen.
6. Tip: Do not let the little black goop at the back of the fridge get to the stage it smells strongly.
7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to catching up on reviews for my blog, tomorrow my plans include cleaning (the garden is getting a break) and Sunday, I want to get stuck back into reading!

Wednesday Funnies 01 July 09
Happy Wednesday!
It's Cracker night here (ok technically its Territory Day and we are supposed to be celebrating self governance) so in honor of this I am going with a fire cracker theme. I only found one video I thought was actually funny, the rest were actually quite disturbing at the levels of stupidity some people posses.
Now this video has nothing to do with firecrackers or even funnies, but when doing a search on youtube I stumbled on a jump rope group called Kings Firecrackers (I think) and they were so awesome I thought I would share this as well.
